State Compensation Insurance Fund’s Legal Lien team is seeking to fill for Senior Lien Representative (Sr. Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster) position or for Lien Representative (Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster) position. At State Fund, our Legal Lien Representatives provide representation, consultation, analysis, defense, and testimony on lien cases at the Division of Workers’ Compensation (“DWC”) lien hearings in accordance with regional office/corporate policies. As a Lien Representative, you will have the opportunity to make a real impact by handling, defending, litigating, and resolving workers’ compensation liens. State Fund’s Legal Lien team has some of the most experienced workers’ compensation legal lien representatives with decades of lien litigation experience. Location:
The Legal Lien team appears at multiple Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board district offices throughout California. This position will primarily serve in the Greater Bay Area in Northern California, specifically in the San Jose, Santa Rosa, Oakland, and San Francisco locations. However, the successful candidates might be assigned to appear at other Boards and locations as well.
To facilitate local in-person hearings, the successful candidate will be expected to attend some hearings and other calendar commitments in-person.
Your Role:
As a vital member of our team, you'll enjoy a diverse and fulfilling role. Your responsibilities will include:
• Collaborate closely with internal and external clients.
• Prepare assigned lien cases for court hearings, according to workers’ compensation laws, DWC regulations, medical fee schedules, and State Fund policies and procedures.
• Research and analyze statutory and case law relating to specific issues
• Represent State Fund at lien hearings, including trials.
• Review bills based on applicable fee schedules.
• Determine compensability of unresolved, outstanding liens filed against claims within the structure of the law and using applicable fee schedule so that the fiscal integrity of State Fund is protected.
• Negotiate and draft settlements.
