Job Description

Vertex seeks a Clinical Development Medical Director to serve as medical lead for nephrology clinical trials across all development phases. The role involves protocol development, safety monitoring, regulatory document preparation, and cross-functional collaboration with minimal guidance.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of study protocols, investigator brochures, and clinical development plans
• Serve as medical monitor responsible for safety monitoring of enrolled trial subjects
• Prepare regulatory submissions including IND/CTA clinical sections and safety reports
• Provide scientific input on study documents including ICFs, CRFs, SAPs, and CSRs
• Represent Vertex to external medical personnel on protocol development and study conduct

Requirements

• MD, DO, or equivalent ex-US medical degree
• Board certification or eligibility in medical, pediatric, or surgical subspecialty
• 10+ years basic or clinical research experience in academic or industrial settings
• Experience designing, executing, and analyzing clinical trials
• Working knowledge of biostatistics, GCP, and clinical study design
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in matrix environment

Compensation: $240,000 - $360,000 base
